6 Different Options on How to Finish a Non-Fiction Essay

When you start writing, you are usually full of energy, enthusiasm and interesting things to tell your readers. But after you are done with the most part of an essay, there arises the question of how to end it in an interesting way not to leave any uncertainty in the piece of work. There are at least six ways of how you can end it described in this article, so you can choose from a few best ones and come up with your own unique finish touch.

6 Ways to End Your Story

So here is what you may do to be happy with your essay ending:

  1. Unexpected sharp ending. Your essay can be finished abruptly, with some rising action. It would have a wow-effect and will let the readers impressed with your writing. So choose some action like a car chase with guns and bad guys and make it rock;
  2. Fading out ending. Can you imagine the sound slowly dying away? You cannot say when it starts and cannot say when it ends; it just exists and then fades away. The same is with the story ending: make your story end slowly so the reader cannot understand when it actually ended and leave them with a feeling of something great happened;
  3. Repeating. A good option would be to repeat the situation that started this essay. It is pretty often used in sequential art and works by the formula A-B-A where the last A is the variation of the first A. It is classic and would make a perfect ending;
  4. Pointing the important. Think about the whole story, what is the core moment in it? What is the center of your work? What sentences are you missing to convey your point of view? It is not just a conclusion but putting the keystones that support the whole piece;
  5. Giving advice. Either directly or indirectly you can make the reader feel richer when you give them some advice at the end of the story. You shared your thoughts in the story and it is natural that there will be a conclusion where you give your point of view on the situation. You can give a brief summary, point out a couple of snapshots and collect all pieces of a puzzle. The perfect ending here is when you put the last piece into its place and see the whole picture;
  6. Not finishing. You can even not finish it at all. Drive your story to some interesting point and just leave it like that. There are lots of imperfect endings so if you want to make an unexpected ending, this is it.

Break the Chain

You can see it in this article: we promised to give you just six endings, but came up with the 7th, so the readers get more than they expected. This is called breaking the chain, giving more advice. You did not know about this until the end, did you? So it makes one of these perfect endings.
